How Was Y-Warm's 0.7 mm “+10°C Warmth” Performance Evaluated?

Y-Warm is an ultra-thin flexible thermal insulation material engineered with a nano-scale closed-cell structure. At approximately 0.7 mm thick, it is designed to reduce the rate at which heat is transferred from a warm surface to a colder environment while adding only minimal thickness to the finished product.

The widely referenced “+10°C warmth” figure is not intended to mean that Y-Warm generates heat or increases the temperature of an object by 10°C under all conditions. Thermal insulation materials do not produce heat. Their function is to slow heat loss by reducing heat transfer through the material.

The “+10°C” value refers to the thermal performance observed under specific comparative test conditions, in which a sample incorporating Y-Warm was evaluated against a control sample without Y-Warm. Under those defined conditions, the Y-Warm sample demonstrated a temperature-retention advantage of approximately 10°C compared with the control.

This result should therefore be understood as a comparative insulation performance measurement, rather than a universal temperature increase. The actual temperature difference observed in practical use will depend on factors such as ambient temperature, the heat source, garment or product construction, exposure time, airflow, and the properties of the surrounding materials.

The significance of the result lies in the combination of minimal thickness and effective thermal resistance. Rather than relying on bulky loft or thick layers of insulation, Y-Warm uses its engineered nano-scale closed-cell structure to suppress heat transfer and improve thermal efficiency within a very thin material layer.

For product developers, this means that Y-Warm can be evaluated as a lightweight insulation solution where space, flexibility, and processability are important considerations, including applications such as apparel, footwear, gloves, and other products in which conventional bulky insulation may be difficult to use.
